Brinsley should stop referring to it as such. If necessary get someone to vertify that it is not a saltpond. Forwarded message From: Brinsley Burbidge Date: Tue, Jul 15, 2008 at 12:00 PM Subject: DPNR/Saltpond To: Lance Calloway Lance, Just a follow up from our brief conversation this morning. The three big items which DPNR/CZM/Amy identified as violations at the big saltpond were: 1. The "rubble bridge" filling in the SW corner (We have already removed this) 2. The road from the "yellow house" to the SW corner (beginning of the walking trail) which is inside the mandatory 25ft setback from any saltpond. The road has to be filled. 3. The silt delta which has formed in the pond in front of the yellow house (caused by us not stopping silt from washing down the hillside). the silt delta has to be removed. I understood that these were among the items for which LS1 would be issued a Notice of Violation (NOVA) for which, presumably, there would be a fine and an order to fix the problem. If my memory serves me well, there is then a further fine for each day until the problems are fixed. Amy strongly advised us in her e-mail to fix these issues immediately, preferable before the NOVA is issued. We are ready to begin filling the road and removing the silt delta (the silt will be used as part of the road fill) we cans then set a program of replanting the road to stabilize fill and cut erosion. If you can get approval for us to do 2 and 3 we can get ahead of the curve. Incidentally, with Jules' help we have completed the 850 ft long silt-fence lined wall that now extends across the entire south facing slope (another big DPNR/CZM requirement according to Amy) and have also removed all the exotic vegetation around the small saltpond.
