To: Jeffrey [email protected]] From: Richard Kahn Sent Fri 8/ 8 PM Subject Fwd: PRIVATE RESI attached is the first proposal obtained by Merwin from crystal comfort (a company merwin just worked with at caryle hotel) proposal did not breakout each line item (i have requested this) however pricing was 219,000 as compared to ad winston bid of 357,255 merwin said one of the big factors was that crystal comfort is a nonunion shop and ad winston is union i asked rich barnett to review and his comments were: Rich this contractor did a rush job on walk through he did not write anything down , or account for electrical panel costs , piping configuration valve costs , no re insulation of pipeing included .This quote may be coming in with a low price up front and charge us for everything else as an extra cost/ exclusion. Lets see where the second contractor comes in at with his proposal he was very good , spent a lot of time with the equipment and was very thorough, lets see if the second proposal reflects the higher costs ? i still need to review bid line by line and verify the validity of rich barnett comma i, second bid should arrive on monday..
