I would like to bring the five senior people from Georgia, Susan Chapman (Clemson Univ.), who works on chicken tails, and Hans Larsson from McGill, for a total of 7 people to mix with our 4 here at MSU, for a two-day meeting, now preliminarily (from the Doodle poll) scheduled for October 24-25. The reason for bringing five people from Georgia is that this group is proposing to do a bioinformatics-based approach using comparative gene expression profiling to identify likely targets and transgenic technologies to modify their expression and/or function in chicken embryos. this is really big, and a very important component for the success of this project. Also, the post-dots I have working here at MSU have gotten the protocol to create transgcnic quail, which we hope will work for most experiments.
