And regarding this subject, Ada had a comment re funding of these trusts as follows: A trust distribution is not ideal from an estate planning standpoint, though, I understand there may be few options. The reason is that property already in a trust for the child's benefit may escape estate taxation in that child's estate and Leon already used up exemption or paid lawyers to GRAT it into that trust. If it is to be a trust distribution, I suggest that the distribution be made from a non-GST exempt trust, since that at least achieves some GST tax savings (the child would allocate his or her GST exemption when he transferred the assets to his or her own trust). I know you spoke to Leon but not sure you spoke on the subject of the art foundation-he is not keen on the idea. Can speak any time over the weekend if you'd like-Hope Sunday goes well.
