Further to IPI's meetings with concerned senior officers in Dec 2013 and April
2014, the Pakistan Army will, for the first time, provide security to teams
delivering anti-polio drops in the danger zones in the border areas, including in the
tribal areas. Certain areas such as North Waziristan will be dealt with on an "as &
when" basis. Modalities will be conveyed verbally. This is a major break-through
and should be kept strictly confidential. This aspect cannot be emphasized enough.
The Pakistan Army will present it as their idea and the fact that this is not in
response to anyone's request. More when we meet on 29 April in New York.
