To: 'eevacation maitcom '[email protected]] From: on behalf of "PersonalGenomes.org" Sent: Sun 3/2/2014 12:18:56 PM Subject: GET Labs: Bringing together Harvard PGP participants and researchers who wish to collaborate (April 29th in Cambridge MA) I ANNOUNCING GET LABS This special event aims to advance our understanding of human variation and health through direct participation by PGP participants and researchers who wish to collaborate with them. April 29, 2014 in Cambridge MA Hello PGP Participant - We're excited to let you know about the 2014 GET Conference and GET Labs. This year, we plan to try something new by splitting the conference into two separate events: GET Labs on April 29th & GET Conference on April 30th. GET Labs - April 29th I EFTA_R1_00384884 EFTA01932582 IBM Innovation Center Cambridge, MA This year GET Labs will be its own event! We are going to focus on facilitating interactions between PGP participants and researchers who wish to collaborate with them. A wide range of activities are planned including specimen collection, phenotyping, discussion groups, sensor distribution and more. So far, we have 15 exciting research groups already signed up to bring their research projects to Cambridge! We have 165 openings for free attendance by Harvard PGP participants. If you are currently an enrolled participant and might want to attend, log-in to your PGP account for more details on how to apply for one of the spots -- it should only take 2 minutes. We wish to accommodate as many PGP participants as we can, but we expect the spots to fill-up very quickly. GET Conference - April 30th Ballroom at the Hotel Marlowe Cambridge, MA The GET Conference on April 30th will feature talks and panel discussions about the frontiers of human biology. Each year, we invite leading thinkers to discuss the important ways in which new genomic technologies will affect all of our lives in the coming years and to debate their technical, commercial, and societal impacts. We bring together scientists, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, policy-makers and others to discuss advances in our ability to measure and understand human biology. Tickets will go on sale March 5th. We are offering discounted tickets for PGP participants attending GET Labs -- additional details will be enclosed in the invitation to attend GET Labs. Take part remotely! If you are unable to attend GET Labs, keep an eye on that "third party activities" page -- some researchers plan to enable remote participation in their activities. EFTA_R1_00384885 EFTA01932583 If you can't attend the GET Conference, you will be able to watch all the talks online. Each year we make videos freely available on the web. Last year, Nobel Laureate Wally Gilbert reminisced about the transformation of genomics in his lifetime, Steven Pinker and the Boston Globe's Stephen Heuser discussed the decline of human violence, NPR RadioLab's Robert Krulwich and leading scientists debated what it means to volunteer to become a "human reference standard", Sandra de Castro Buffington (among the "100 Most Influential Hispanics in America") spoke about utilizing Hollywood to advance human health, and many other great speakers. Check out the videos here. Lodging We have secured a room block at the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge MA with a discounted rate of $279 for invited guests. To make your reservation, please call the reservation department at the Hotel Marlowe at 617-772- 5838 and mention the "GET Conference" to receive discounted pricing. Annual GET Conference and GET Labs events are organized by PersonalGenomes.org, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which supports the Personal Genome Project. Our mission is to make a wide spectrum of data about humans accessible and to increase biological literacy and improve human health. Our programs work to generate, aggregate, and interpret human biological and trait data on an unprecedented scale. Our efforts are informed by values encouraging both greater transparency and collaboration between researchers and participants. We hope to see you in April!
