Subject Status of Transition
Dear Mr. Epstein,
I wanted to pass some thoughts by you before you leave tomorrow about the current state of the
transition. I have spoken with Daphne, Anna and Rich and they are behind me on this. However,
it is what you believe is best for the island.
While Roy has been congenial and has initially showed me around the island, I have encountered
resistance to providing me with basic reports... about open projects, their respective status, what
their daily and weekly routines have been, etc....information normally written by outgoing
personnel as part of the exit process. Stephanie has been almost non-existent.
On several occasions I have asked for these reports and was told today by Stephanie that it is not
up to them and I should do my own written reports/research. Roy took offense and said he did
not care about any open projects since he already has a new job. He also said if they were asked
to leave, they would be more than happy to accommodate. (I did not reply to this.)
However, to be fair, while Roy was waiting for me at AYH this evening with the knowledge I
was on the phone with NY, he finally sent me an outline of several maintenance procedures he
jotted in an email.
Since they have "checked-out," it was obvious when I arrived this was the case, I feel their
usefulness has expired.
Daphne has given me her 1000% support that in the coming days/weeks I will have the resources
I need to deliver the new beginning and organization you seek.
If you are in agreement, I would like to ask if you want Roy and Stephanie to complete their time
here until 22 September or depart earlier.
Other issues which need to be addressed are the email accounts and phones. Stephanie is using
the company account but Roy uses a gmail account. His account has been used for
company/island business. For security reasons to rotect anproprietary information, we should
without notice re uest the passwords to both
and
Therefore, preserving any and all information much of which will prove
useful in moving forward with projects and understanding what has occurred in the past seven
months. Telephones as well will need to obtain any passwords used and collect the phones or
SIM cards.
I apologize to bring this to your attention on the eve of your departure; however, I like to address
issues and not allow them to fester.
I appreciate your understanding and hope this will not be an inconvenience for you.
