Some words are expelled. I am OK - I just do not like the last sentence — I do not want any party/celebration. B From: Larry Cohen Sent: Friday, August 30, 2013 12:00 PM To: Jetty Epstein; Boris Nikolic Subject: email comments Hi guys - Bill edited the email and it's a better reflection of his voice (his adjectives etc) — here it is: Boris has decided to leave the Foundation and bgC3 to focus on private sector work. Amongst his other responsibilities, I asked Boris to identify early-stage companies doing breakthrough work in life sciences and technology and to assess investment opportunities into those companies. Boris has a real talent for finding and working with these companies; however, our priorities don't allow Boris to devote much of his time to helping these innovative companies. As such, we have been discussing the unfortunate possibility of his eventual transition to the for- profit world. Over the past 6 years with the Foundation and the last 3 of those working directly with me, Boris made a very significant contributions to our success. Boris ranks among the smartest and hardest working people I have bad the experience to work with. He has deep technical expertise within multiple areas, solid judgment and is able to reach out and build relationships with a large and diverse group of people. EFTA_R1_004 32555 EFTA01959437 Nevertheless, with our programs well established and working so well Boris has decided the time is ripe to move on. Although I am sad to see him go, he does so with my full support and continued friendship. Boris has graciously agreed to continue working on projects with us all through the end of the year to ensure a successful transition. We will have an event in then to get together and thank Boris and remember some of the fun elements of the projects he has worked on. Thank you. — Bill EFTA_R1_004 32556 EFTA01959438
