After a lifetime of pushing the performance of movies (Cinerama, Showscan, IMAX), he showed me a jaw-dropping demo of integrating 4K, 120 fps, high-lumens, focusing-screen 3D for reality-quality projection. He's come to the conclusion that existing theatrical distribution won't get there incrementally, and is looking at ways to propagate a discontinuous format and stories to match. I'm bcc'ing you all as people working on and with interesting projects, that might be interested in hosting nodes in a new network. I'm not sure whether you'd be the eggs or the chickens, but your particular areas could help drive this in advance of a more conventional commercial rollout.
