Jeffrey wants to hire this person to check out things on an ongoing basis, yes? Does he want the person to be here in NY? I should have asked that when I spoke to him--sorry. Also, I am really psyched that he's interested in visiting us! I had such fun talking to him. I hold my editorial meetings every Monday. The large group meeting, where we go around the table to discuss story ideas, is from 10:30 to 11:30. I also have an editorial managers meeting from 9:30 to 10:30, if he wants to talk to my management team for fun. September is an intense travel month for me, so the 29th is the only Monday that I will actually be there. I MAY also be there for Tuesday right after Labor Day--or I might have to be in London. I just had a fun idea. We are experimenting with guest editors for our Web site. We did that publicly with LeVar Burton in June, for instance. I know Jeffrey doesn't like the spotlight, so I'm not suggesting that. But if he really likes a story idea and we agree, maybe we could assign it and let him see it through the stages of the process, if he'd find that fun. He's done so much for science, I think that deserves some fun!
