Our service provider sent us phones to plug in at each user's desk allowing a single Internet connection to provide telephone service and data services. Real Time services like Voice over IP and Video IP are often impacted by data packets arriving out of sequence or with high latency (round-trip time between packets). We continue to experience high latency from the USVI to the other locations. At FTC we are frequently using all of the 1.5Mbps bandwidth. Packets arriving when we have reached capacity are stored in the cache on the router and can be discarded if they are not transmitted before their expiration. If we are to use Real time services like Skype and Video Conferencing in the future from this location, we will probably want to increase our existing bandwidth and possibly switch providers. On a separate note, Emad indicated that employees travelling to the USVI will be staying at Dave Christopher's house. I'm not sure what type of services currently exist there and was wondering if I should schedule a time in the near future to visit. Let me know if this is ok.
