I know I said I wasn't gonna write until my next recruitment trip, but I'm on a roll! I see things differently after a week in civilization. These are some observations since I got back to Hell, also known as Abu Dhabi: It takes a lot of self-confidence for a man to wear a long, white dress that he hoists up when entering his car and a long, white headgear that he elegantly sweeps out of his face. It screams bearded, gay bride and yet these Arab men pull it off as straight men. Fm impressed! In the Abu Dhabi promotional video shown on the Etihad plane (tagline: "the UAE national airline") as it descends in to Abu Dhabi there are "unspoiled" beaches. Where are these unspoiled beaches? The entire beach has been barricaded since my arrival 2.5 years ago due to construction work... What kind of 'construction work' could possibly go on on a beach for over 2.5 years??? Another segment is a line of Arabic men in their white princess-dresses and white veils doing some sort of fimny chicken dance with their necks. A man dressed like a virgin princess AND doing the chicken dance on a video that could easily end up on youtube?! The self confidence of the Arabs is unreal! As mentioned in my last report, the Arab women also has an unprecedented self-confidence! A 3rd segment has beautiful Arab horses running around. I've heard of horses since I came here, but I actually haven't seen a single one... The only live animal I've seen was a goat on the back of a truck driving through the city (if Abu Dhabi can be called a city). Nothing survives in the desert. Oh, I also saw a bunch of dirty camels with poop in their butts at that camel race I had to get up at 6 AM for. I mostly complained about my Italian sandals getting dirty so I wasn't so much watching the camels as where I was stepping. My next recruitment trip is already planned for mid-April! Keep fingers and toes crossed for me! :) EFTA_R1_00484531 EFTA01991518
