I have talked at length to all the speakers. Trying to avoid the following: That they
come out and bring out their "standard" wares and talks, and nothing new. That's
dull. Rather, I would like them to stimulate conversation and discussion amongst the
group with new ideas and thoughts that would be interesting to the assembled group.
I have asked for no key note or powerpoint presentations, and no bullet points (for
step throughs). Visuals can only be used if deemed absolutely necessary. Although I
have set a time limit of 15 minutes, speakers have been admonished that they are to
speak as little as possible, and set out the idea simply and quickly. The quickest wins...
The focus is on dynmaic discussions and letting the conversation flow. I hope that
this will avoid the trap of the standard conference format. I have also helped with
suggestions for possible topics, which will be interesting to you personally, as well as
the rest of group. No doubt some sparks will fly.
It would be nice to take some hikes and and explore the island. In the afternoon
evenings along with spouses and partners, so that they all don't feel so shut out. Fun
activities in the evening, such as Catherine doing a science barbeque, etc. I think
people would also like to relax on the beach, look at the stars, take in the scenery, and
just have fun lookse conversations. Nothing formal, no formal wear, suits are not
allowed, strictly casual.
Does this work for you? Are we in alignment?

Hi Cecile:
FYI, I did not hear back from Al Seckel. The hotel is
asking me for details and we also need to have an
agenda.
Do you think you can get some info from Jeffrey when he
is here? We are down to the wire
three weeks away
from their arrivals
Many thanks!
Warm regards,
Judi
