Hi there!
I guess I misunderstood from our last conversation?
I have been spending a lot of time making nice with everyone
and crafting an exit strategy for all of the work. It spans 12 to
18 months and closes out 5 different portfolios. You
advised me to give this 100 percent and to build a strong and
credible exit in the same way I did the entrance so I did. And
am trying. I hired a risk management team from Wharton to
help assess internal and external risk, built a financial
transition, and am now shaping the communications strategy
for foundation exit across the various efforts. The leadership
team has been sending me nice notes about my terrific
attitude and ability to move forward with hard instructions.
They want me to consider other internal leadership roles once
I close this team down. Not sure that is the best plan.
On our last call I tried to suggest the business world, more
philanthropy (not my favorite), or some other cool thing. We
could think of the 'some other thing' but agreed to keep
talking about it. Meanwhile, I have been in in discussions to
ramp up my neurosurgery time which will probaby be a
mistake. Since taking on something like a chief of service role
has a lot of cache and sounds relaly neat but ends up to be a
lot of administration and not a lot more OR time. But it is a
credible job and something I know how to do.
I think I have forgotten how to dream. Honestly, I just am tired
of being beat up.
Bill was supposed to meet with me later this month but had to
change to may be August given his schedule and upcoming
family vacation so there is not much from him. I know Boris is
trying to schedule a meeting but not sure it would help
anything or what i could possibly ask for or discuss.
Havent heard about the Gabon stuff but it sounds fun!
Am having surgery on my left breast in about 10 days and
need to stay put for a bit after that. In Germany right now,
giving a talk.
Miss you.
