Went to see my mother on the way to Kinderhook. She was totally alert and knows exactly what is going on. The doctors told her. Shc said she is just not lucky. referring to not being able to "beat" it. She was very calm. I do think she has been living with this idea of "luck" for five years. She had breast cancer then...and thought she beat it...but apparently that cancer spread to the brain. The uterine cancer was a new situation in September. So she is still bedridden and I do not think she is going to get mobil. She is taking life one day at a time. I look at her and see myself in 25 years in the same situation. Dying is a very lonely time. I just feel sad for her. After her mother died when I was 12, that was when I grieved for the loss of a mother. So this is like looking at somcother close relative who is sick. I am trying to be nice to her. I go to London next Thursday night and back Monday. Feb. 14th. On Friday, Feb. 18th I go to Palm Beach with Julia Koch for President's Weekend. About Feb. 23rd,1 go to LA for the Oscars on Sunday. Feb. 27th and home Monday. Feb. 28th. Then I am around.... and the next big trip is Cannes in mid-May. So that's my schedule and I will come see you anytime you are in New York. Please please do not forget to ask the Duke of York if the Queen saw "The King's Speech."
