Google did some server-side changes to calendars to work around the iPhone bug that was displaying events created on iPhones as GMT time-zone, rather than the time zone they were created in, so it's possible that you were trying to add/edit events on a server that was in the middle of a software update & restart. But if it's been going on for a while, that's not it. I can delete & readd your calendars without affecting your other Gmail pieces (specifically your email) to see if we can fix an ongoing issue, but I should do that in person.
