I am guilty (this time); I'm dividing your older messages in your Inbox and Sent folders into folders by year (2013/Inbox, 2013/Sent, 2012/Inbox, etc) to reduce the number of messages in your main Inbox and Sent folders. This should make Mail.app much more responsive, while keeping your past conversations available via searches. Mail should return to normal once it catches up with the changes I've made — maybe another hour of lag? You can use https://amail.com in the meantime on your desktop.
