Dear Jeffrey, Can you believe that my friends on the other side of the aisle have been squandering time and energy lining up support to join Sarah Palin with 40 votes to defend Obamacare? This quixotic effort seems to proceed in a vacuum, without regard to the severe economic consequences. Speaker Boehner went so far as to threaten a "whale of a fight" with the President and implied his intention to shut down the government over the debt ceiling if he doesn't get his way on spending cuts. This is just plain wrong. Their obstructionist tactics are not helping those of us in Congress that truly want to fix the issues we are facing. This year alone, I have co-sponsored 373 pieces of legislation because I believe that action is always better than inaction. I maintain that trying to fix the issues is better than sitting idly by while middle class Americans are struggling. The Republicans only want to stop every measure brought before them so they can point their finger at the President and say that he failed. I repeat, this is just plain wrong. I promise you that as long as I am in office and serving you, I will do everything in my power to fight against the Republicans tactics and I will work tirelessly towards preventing a government shutdown, cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
