When the heart pumps, the aortic valve opens to let oxygen-rich blood flow from the left ventricle into a large blood vessel. Blood then flows through the aorta to the rest of the body. His Aortic valve has narrowed, and it open all the way and would not close. So the heart has to work harder to pump blood through his body because It was washing back it was not closing. The heart can do this for many years, but over time it gets worn out. It can no longer send out as much blood as your body needs. If you don't get treatment heart failure may develop so we signed him up for a non FDA approved study at the UW in Seattle, Washington. He was # 31 at the UW that was able to get the man made aortic valve on Aug 31" c 1430 hours. Then on Sept 03rd because the heart did not have to work so hard they had to put in a pacemaker. I was able to stay with him and my Mother for 30 more days STT didn't like it but I had to do what I need to do. I retumed to work on OCT 1" and have had Three days off to date. I am at the water front EWB. There has not been any good changed in STT for the 6 months I was allowed to be with my parents. ALL but I have been told Jeff and Larry has been down to STT.
