This lab test reveals a fungus that is commonly found in many if not most soils in south florida. The problem with the turf area is not a fungus but light. The lack of light stresses, softens and stunts the stolonws and blade growth because photosynthesis is not supporting the over health of the turf population. I did not need to test that area for fungus or weakness in the sod. It has been apparent for a while now and simply and overwhelmingly due to the lack of light. The fungus is real but very much secondary and not the cause of the turf decline. I stated from the outset that the turf would last only a short while. It actually performed better and longer than I predicted. That turf area will need replacement at least 2 times per year and that turf specie is one of the most tolerant in shadier locations. The property I left was healthy in all areas. It did exhibit sun burn in the pool area, no doubt. From mid September to almost all of October, we had a wickedly hot times, with heat indexes regularly at or over 100 degrees. The plants that exhibited heat stress and sun burn were predominantly the Bromeliads close to the deck surface where the reflection added and even increased the intensity of light and heat. The single Cordyline also exhibited the same on its foliage. The Bromeliads in the more filtered light came thru with very little heat and light stress. The overwhelming plant population, in all areas of the grounds, were in great condition from the assorted palms to their underplantings. No nutritional disorder presentations, no pathogen or even insect populations.... a very healthy landscape that was also overwhelmingly well groomed. Your photographs, as well as mine, prove that out quite clearly and definitively. Even your nutritional report gave good grades to the turf. Light, Light, Light.
