They didn't have to get out the steel cage, but it was entertaini=g. There has been a lot of interest about trying =o make formal the idea of systems that discover and take advanta=e of patterns in their environment, quite similar to discussions=that you and I have had. There are different perspectives ab=ut this, but people broadly agree that this is an important aven=e to follow. There remains a surprising amount of=disagreement on foundations of quantum mechanics and the quantum=measurement problem. There has been a lot of frui=less debate on what is an 'event,' and what it means for an event to '=appen.' There should be a good session on qua=tum gravity, which I will sadly miss because I have to leave tomorrow morning. Then there will be a session on consciousness, =hich I will happily miss.
