I'm going to be in the US for a while this summer... According to my current schedule, I'm free to meet anytime within July 21- Aug 31 on the East Coast ... does anytime in that window work for you? Aug 1-3 I tentatively plan to be in California and we could meet there if you plan to be out there.... We have been doing lots and lots of interesting stuff with OpenCog and Hanson Robotics; I could summarize via email but it would be more fun and productive to discuss in person.... Among other things, we are finally using OpenCog to control the Hanson robot heads now -- they're not yet doing anything genius, but at least there is something to show, and we can make them smarter and smarter now via integrating more of our OpenCog research code into the robot-control system... (The robot is a concrete focus for combining cognition, language, perception and action ... advantageous in various ways compared to the video-game stuff we were playing with earlier ... but in the end of course it's cognition and learning that are key not the robot, it's just a medium...) As noted in earlier emails, Jim Rutt and Cassio and I have worked out a quite detailed OpenCog project plan for the next 3 years ,which I think would lead us to a (the?) revolutionary breakthrough in AGI. We are proceeding according to this plan already but obviously more funding would accelerate things. We have talked to some HNW individuals recently who have made positive noises, but noises aren't money ... still, even with our current inadequate funding we are making more progress than in previous years, which is really rewarding and fun for me... these are awesome times for AI, and it's just gonna get better...
