email for the vet
Is this ok to send to the vet?
Dear Dr. Soboroff,
I have a health concern with my kitten, Blueberry, and would greatly =ppreciate if you could advice me on that. She is a
ragdoll kitten, 5.5 =onths old. We have seen you in December for a check up and everything =as normal. Also her fecal
test came out negative a couple of weeks ago. =he developed soft stool for a short period of time when I was giving =er
new foods, which we discussed last time I saw you, and that issue =ot resolved after I followed your advice, her stool
was consistently =ormal for more then a week. I am in the Caribbean now and have her with =e in the house. She has
been doing well here for a while, but 2 days =go had a diarrhea accident (liquid stool which she has never had =efore). I
am not sure if this is food related, as I have not changed =nything in her diet. Her stool was better since then, but still
soft. =ther then that, she has no other symptoms: she seem active, playful and =as a good appetite. My concern is if she
could possibly get infected =ith some parasite? It seems that there are more potential hazard down =ere, then I thought.
Even though she is kept strictly indoors, I saw a =ittle lizard got into a room the other day and Blueberry started =laying
with it. I did not let her eat it and took it away, however this =ould have happened at some point when I was not with
her. After reading =bout it, I found out about liver flukes, which seem like a very severe =isease potentially if left
untreated at an early stage. I saw a local =et down here today, they have seen only a few cases of liver flukes =ver the
years down here, so it seem like the chances are not high, =specially considering that the area where we live is isolated
and there =re no other cats around. However she recommends monthly deworming for =ats who live in this area. She
also recommended a medication called =E2 Revolution" to prevent from other parasites, but that =ould not cover
flukes. I wanted to ask you before I do anything..do you =hink I should give her any medications just to rule out the
chance of =nfections? Or would you like me to bring another stool sample? I will =e back in NY this Wednesday.
Thank you very much in advance!
