When you get on the pla=e your phone will log onto Wifi and then you can make and receive calls lik= on the ground. I will be referring to 3 services and Something called CPDLC =(Co=troller Pilot Data Link Communication). which is New Generation of communic=tion for Jets, mainly used for North Atlantic Crossings„ GIV does not have=this, NOT mandatory until 2020. the G550 has CPDLC installed. c=div> 1-New W=FI is called KA Band JetConnectX, =div>2-DATA Link= is used for communication of the aircraft computer to Air Traffic co=troller for Clearances, Weather updates while flying and Down Loading Fligh= plans. 3-Swift BroadBand, is the orginal Wifi system that was insta=led on the 6550„ its still installed and operational, so theoretical=y we have 2 WIFI systems installed now on the 6550. KA Band and Swift. = =1span> WIFI i= obviously Internet access world wide, DATA Link uses VHF Radio w=en on the Ground, or it uses SWiftBroad WIFI system, also, to operate=CPDLC communication, it must use Swift Broadband wifi to work,,, KA Band is=not approved for CPDLC use. just to keep apples to apples, I'm basing everyt=ing on the Lowest cost plan, since upgrade to Faster Download speed is same=for both SatCom Direct and Arinc.
