They started out in the weeds; I said (in 90 seconds) tha= we had to start at 100,000' and that was about mission, goals and s=rategy for foreign assistance. Carly F then said that she was so gla= to be part of this commission, and then, over the next 20 minutes i= fourteen ways said she felt that this had to be about mission, goals and =trategy. Then we go into the big meeting. Carly starts t=lking (12 minutes) about empowering women and thinking big and don't=discard the past and yada yada. I then say (90 seconds) that I think=our focus should be about helping to create functional governance and a st=ong economy for the target country. Carly then adopts as her own ver=acular "functional governance" and "strong economy".. Crowd says that Carly is right and that we need to establish missi=n, goals and strategy around functional governance and strong economy.&nbs=; I am cracking up, this is DC. End of meeting a guy comes up to me =ho didn't say a word: "Sir, I am from the Dept of Defens=. You got it right, we want to support you, but for political reason= we need to show up in the 4th Quarter."
