USMS OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
The U.S. Marshals Service confirms the death of a federal prisoner, Jeffrey Edward Epstein, 66, on August 10,
2019. The USMS does not own or operate detention facilities but partners with state and local governments, the
Federal Bureau of Prisons and private detention facilities to house its prisoner population. Epstein was a USMS
inmate being held at BOP's Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in New York. The FBI is handling the
death investigation.
