PURPOSE: To establish procedures at the Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC), New York, New York, with regard to inmates with a PSY ALERT assignment. 2. DEFINITION: The Case Management Activity (CMA) Psychology Alert (PSY ALERT) assignment is applied to inmates with substantial menial health concerns that require extra care when their housing is changed or they are transferred. Priority should be given to inmates with a history of mental illness, self-directed violence, recent stressors (e.g., losses, newly sentenced, etc.) It is recommended that a system of control be implemented explaining who will be notified when a Suicide Watch or Psychological Observation ends and how that communication will take place.
