When we read in the Post two weeks ago that Epstein had arranged a marriage between a United States Citizen and an Eastern European woman to keep that woman in the U.S., we realized that there is a foreign component to Epstein's trafficking enterprise with which HSI can assist. HSI has access to Department of Homeland Security databases that we use in the normal course of business that store information regarding the following aspects of immigration: • Alien Files (individuals who have applied for Green Cards and for Naturalization, or whom have appeared in immigration legal proceedings) • Immigrant Visas (individuals who have received a Green Card overseas) • Non-Immigrant Visas (individuals who have received or applied for temporary visas to visit or study in the U.S.) • International border crossings (for both foreigners and U.S. Citizens) • Treasury Enforcement Communication System (TECS) (a database that contains records of people of interest to the law enforcement community, and where wants and warrant information is entered) HSI's DBFTF conducts marriage fraud investigations. Our most prominent current investigation involves an arranged marriage related to the heavily-covered NXIVM sex cult trial at EDNY this past spring. and I are the co-case agents of that ongoing marriage fraud investigation and have been members of the NXIVM prosecution team for over one year.
