My Unit specifically handles inter-agency coordination of FOIPA matters involving FBI documents and/or FBI equities. We received a referral from INTERPOL Washington that pertains FBI documents originating and/or derived from 31E-NY-3027571. A copy of the FBI documents in question has been attached for your information. Due to the fact that the FBI documents originate and/or are derived from a pending investigation, please answer the following questions: • What is the current status of the pending investigation (e.g., investigation is ongoing, awaiting U.S. Attorney decision to prosecute, trial is pending, an appeal from the trial is pending, etc.)? • Can we acknowledge that the investigation is pending or would this jeopardize the investigation? • Will releasing the FBI documents cause harm with the pending investigation or any other pending investigation?
