Thanks M. We really appreciate the background. After I had hit send, The DOJ Attaché here asked me if I could find out if DANY also has its own case? He's concerned about competing cases and that potential impact here given the sensitivities and the fact that they could be confused as the same by our UK LE partners (and/or the media). Again, just for our awareness. Any clarity is appreciated. Sorry to bother you with the endless questions. He's not a big part of our investigation. The U.S. Attorney for SDNY made some comments at a press conference yesterday regarding reaching out to Prince Andrew and not hearing back from him. The media was all over that statement, making it seem we are investigating Prince Andrew more seriously than we actually are. We appreciate your support on this case, and of course any future ties to the UK will be appropriately coordinated through Legat London. Let me know if you have additional questions. (LO) (FBI) Subject: Media interest in possible interview of Prince Andrew related to Epstein case --- UNCLASSIFIED//FOUO Classification: UNCLASSIFIED//FOUO I hope you're all doing well. I wanted to let you know that the BBC contacted the US Embassy press office last night asking if the FBI would like to comment on the fact that "the FBI is expanding its investigation into Prince Andrew." It has been widely reported in the press here in the last 12 —18 hours that Prince Andrew has declined an invitation to be interviewed by the FBI. If you could lend any clarity to this for our situational awareness, we would be grateful. Obviously, we advised the Embassy press office that the FBI wouldn't be providing any comment from London, and the DCM has also directed that no comment be provided from the embassy. Legat London does not intend to engage with the press here in the UK on this matter, and if it becomes necessary we will advise the Embassy press office to direct all inquiries regarding the FBI to the National Press Office at FBIHQ. We wanted to bring this to your attention and we know that often these stories can be whipped up in the press in a number of ways out of our control. Anything related to Prince Andrew and this scandal makes it into the media here and the intensity/scrutiny of media attention ebbs and flows with every new rumor. We just wanted to let you know if you need anything from Legat London or support from UK LE, please reach out to myself and/or ALAI John Illia — we manage all criminal programs here. Additionally, if you are aware of any potential investigative activity occurring in the UK (ie an interview of Prince Andrew or any victim interviews) - anything you can do to keep us in the loop regarding the UK related aspects of the case is appreciated. Please let me know if you need anything from here. Civil lawsuit alleges Epstein‑Maxwell sex‑trafficking scheme tied to federal plea negotiations and possible high‑level cover‑up

Civil lawsuit alleges Epstein‑Maxwell sex‑trafficking scheme tied to federal plea negotiations and possible high‑level cover‑up The passage provides concrete allegations from a civil complaint (named plaintiff Ransome) that Jeffrey Epstein recruited a young masseuse with promises of fashion‑design work, kept her passport, and forced sex with powerful figures. It links the timeline to a non‑prosecution agreement negotiated by federal prosecutors (including an unnamed Acosta) and notes that the deal quashed an FBI investigation. The mention of Prince Andrew, [REDACTED - Survivor], and potential involvement of senior DOJ officials gives actionable leads (names, dates, alleged transactions) that merit follow‑up, though the claims are unverified and rely on a single civil filing. Key insights: Ransome’s civil complaint (filed Jan 2017) alleges Epstein promised career help in exchange for sex and kept her passport.; Complaint ties alleged abuse to the period when Epstein’s lawyers were negotiating a non‑prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors (Acosta et al.).; The plea deal allowed Epstein to plead guilty to state prostitution charges, receive a private‑wing jail sentence, and allegedly halted an FBI probe into an international trafficking network.
