Sony VPL-VW1100ES. (Credit: Sony) It has been almost two years since Sony launched its first ultra-high definition (UHD) home theater projector, the VPL-VW1000ES. The company recently announced two updated models that support the latest HDMI 2.0 standard, among other new features. With HDMI 2.0, the VPL-VW600ES and VPL-VW1100ES will be able to play 4K videos at a smoother 60fps frame rate. Editor's Note Sony has just announced the VPL-VW500ES, an Asian model of the VPL-VW600ES, that does not come bundled with the company's 4K video player. Available in November for the Asia Pacijic markets, pricing information for the VPL-VW500ES will only be confirmed closer to launch. The VPL- VW1100ES is also coming to this region, but later in January 2014. Both models are equipped with a special video-upscaling algorithm that is optimized for Blu-ray Discs mastered in 4K to deliver what Sony calls "more accurate 4K picture quality", according to its press release. These beamers are also bundled with the FMP-X1 UHD media player preloaded with 10 movies and short videos, on top of an Xperia Z tablet serving as a remote. PADescription: Image removed by sender.
