Dear Jeffrey,
I am delighted to invite you to a dinner at my home this fall to share the excitement of what's happening at Columbia's
new Zuckerman Institute (Zuckermanlnstitute.Columbia.edu). As you know, I have become intimately involved with
Columbia through my passion for neuroscience and my belief in its importance.
For me this is both a personal commitment and a great adventure. Over the past year or so I have had the opportunity
to learn about the research horizon from some of the world's top neuroscientists, to visit the labs where it's all taking
place, and to look just a few years ahead to when the Institute will open the doors to its new home on Columbia's
Manhattanville campus.
Please join me, Columbia University President Lee C. Bollinger, and the Zuckerman Institute leadership for an evening
exploring Columbia's neuroscience horizon. The Institute's scientific leadership--Thomas Jessell, Charles Zuker and
Nobel laureates Richard Axel and Eric Kandel--will be with us on October 29, and Tom, Richard and Charles will also
join us on November 12. Each evening begins with cocktails at 6:30 M. and dinner at 7 mi. Please let us know
which evening you can attend.

I am privileged to be able to share in what Tom, Richard, Eric, Charles and their colleagues across Columbia's
campuses are learning about all of us as they plan for a future of breakthrough discoveries in mind, brain,
and behavior.
I look forward to seeing you in the fall,
Mort Zuckerman
