I. Re: outside speakers - Dr Claudius Conrad was a colleague at Massachusetts General Hospital who published an interesting study in Critical Care Medicine with Surgical ICU patients - attached here. He has since moved to MD Anderson. Joanne Loewy of Mount Sinai Beth Israel in NYC and Suzanne Hanser of Berklee College of Music in Boston are leaders in the MT-BC field and good friends who have served on our Institute's Advisory Board. Connie Tomaino of Beth Abraham (now CenterLight Health System) is another leader in the field and a good friend. I've given talks in years past at Symposia with Michael Thaut of Univ of Toronto, who does interesting research with Parkinson patients. Might you know any of these therapists? 2. Interesting re: virtual reality - I and David Alexander, a Neurology colleague here who directs the new California Rehabilitation Institute and serves on our Institute's Advisory Board, just started a collaboration with a company doing interactive VR - we are helping them develop a product and just started working on designing a pilot study with subacute Stroke and TBI patients who are receiving intensive inpatient rehabilitation. We would love to hear about your VR project. 3. Perhaps we could meet some time in Sept? - I could share with you some grant applications for clinical trials with critically-ill infants, cancer patients, and movement disorder patients that might be of interest to your center and NCCIH. Please consider submitting and sending to your elists. Also- I am developing a virtual reality project that was initially meant to focus on meditative music/images- but it would be interesting to test other options- like natural sounds. We could repeat grant application as well- as I said, NCCIH just got interested in music therapies- and I am talking to them directly. We are also working on a center grant proposal to them for breathing meditation. But we can explore other options in the future. Would love to discuss this with Dr Tachdjian as well. EFTA00457242
