From: Daphne Wallace To: Richard Kahn Cc: Ann Rodriquez -4 >, Subject: Re: Punchlist #49 - Heavy Machinery Trencher Date: Wed, 22 May 2019 21:02:00 +0000 Greetings Rich, Mr. Pemberton is currently in Florida. Mr. Pemberton's trenching equipment has completed the majority of the trenching on St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. He is not willing to name a price without seeing the scope of the work for himself. Michael has not been forthcoming with specs, because he says it is up to JE how far the trenching will go. I asked him if there is still a question on the location of the GSJ RO; which is the first project I thought for trenching. He says the trencher is not for that job; he is going to use Jules and the CAT equipment. The project begins tomorrow morning. As for the Underwater Cable project, per Michael the trench is 6-8" wide, 30" deep, distance unknown. Michael reiterated that he provided specs for 3 machines, one of which should be purchased. He does not understand, or know or care that JE does not want to purchase a machine. Every vendor I have spoken to returns to the Ditchwitch or the Vermeer equipment for trenchers. The Hydra Wheel attachment, which can cut through the Blue Bitch rock, cannot fit on the CAT excavator equipment. The CAT skid steer, for which Hydra makes an attachment, that attachment is not large enough for the trenching; neither are the attachments Caterpillar makes for the excavators LSJE has. There is no trenching attachment for the equipment that I can locate that will trench the terrain you are eventually going to run into on GSJ. I will let you know when Mr. Pemberton is back on island to set up a site visit.
