As a child I loved playing with my mother's wardrobe. Playing in my mother's closet was the beginning of a life long interest and love of fashion. From Kindergarten I enjoyed drawing and I was encouraged by my teachers to refine and improve my artistic skills. I developed an eye for color and form and my confidence grew as I won competitions for my work, Winning first place in the Sunfest show when I was 13, being asked to display my work in a City Bank when I was 15 and then matriculating with a 2.1 average at the School of arts built my confidence in both myself and in my artistic abilities. I knew from a very young age that what I wanted to be in life was a fashion designer. I decided that when I graduated from college the best way for me to understand my chosen field was to work in retail. There, I believed that I could gain an understanding of the commercial side of the business. From the retail side I could see what items sold and what customers looked for in clothes. I have learnt about clothing display, I have learnt about what colors stand out on the rails and I have learnt what colors actually sell. In other words I have learned about the point of sale end of the business. Whilst I have been working in the most successful clothing store in Palm Beach I have continued designing clothes and wear my own outfits. My friends constantly ask me where I bought what ever I am wearing and on being told that I made it I am then asked if I can make them the identical outfit. I love clothes, I love fabric, I am style conscious and I am energized by the fashion industry. I believe that I have talent for designing clothes and fashion accessories. To build on my natural abilities though, I need to be formally trained and I need to be in a disciplined school environment. I know that with a degree from FIT I would be able to EFTA00577771 apply for a job that I would love and that I would be able to work with a team designing clothes which is my dream. EFTA00577772
