Jeffrey Epstein on the Value of Philanthropy
Society as we know it would not function without philanthropy, or charitable giving. No one
understands this more than Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein provides financial support for educational
programs in the sciences. One particular program of note is the The Program for Evolutionary
Dynamics at Harvard University, to which he gave $30 million to fund. While Epstein focuses his
philanthropic efforts on education, other areas should not be ignored.
Why Philanthropy Matters
"Everyone has their own reasons for donating money to charities or for forming charitable
organizations," notes Jeffrey Epstein. :Someone might donate money or even time to provide
aid to people in developing countries. Helping out those in need allows them to learn to be

"One Another-way to support education philanthropic-is to donate to programs that provide
educational opportunities to disadvantaged people," suggests Jeffrey Epstein. "One can support

Not Only for the Wealthy
While Jeffrey Epstein notes that the wealthy have perhaps a greater responsibility to helping
others, philanthropy is not just for those with large bank accounts. Middle class individuals and
small businesses can also contribute to make their world a better place. Even small regular
donations are of a great help to many charities.
:People often think of money when they think of philanthropy," Jeffrey Epstein remarked, "But
the first definition of the word is simply "goodwill to fellow members of the human race." A
person who cannot afford to donate money can kick start their philanthropic career by donating
their time to an organization they believe in.", notes Jeffrey Epstein.
