From: To: [email protected] Subject: Paul's Health Issue Date: Sun, 07 Sep 2014 18:43:02 +0000 Jeffrey I have had an unexpected health event. I have a blocked bile duct near the pancreas. I developed a jaundice last weekend and my gastroenterologist in FL sent me for a CT scan and pet scan which showed the blockage. It seems this is/may be caused by AIP - autoimmune pancreatitis- which is rare but which fits my medical history which involves 14 years of immunosuppression and MG - obviously an autoimmune disease. The FL doctors have recently seen a case that presented just like mine in an MG patient that was AIR. But, since AIP presents like pancreatic cancer, it is important to rule it out through a biopsy. (I have been doing monthly blood tests while taking cellcept for MG and as of July 27 all was normal and as of Monday bilirubin and some other levels were elevated), So I traveled to NYC on Thursday and am now scheduled for an EUS endoscopic stent insertion and biopsy on Tuesday. This is scheduled as an outpatient procedure but I think because of my MG and the anesthesia issues it presents, I'd prefer to be admitted for it. This will be done at Weill Cornell (Dr Michel Kahleleh) and Dr Michael Lieberman. Stu Subotnick and Barbara Picower set me up with this team. I am pretty upbeat actually --- and apart from being yellow - dont have symptoms; no pains, no nausea, no fever. The stent will immediately relieve the jaundice and the AIP is treated by steroids. If it turns out to be malignant, I'll have to have chemo. Steve Alexander is all up-to-date and can work with my team (Ron Shaffer and Alberto Cano) on seeing that the work on the house goes smoothly. Moens and Wally Turner (of Sothebys) both called me recently saying they had prospects. I think we can sell the house reasonably quickly by finishing up the tweaking and staging, We can discuss what price to ask (Wally thinks in the $8s and Moens is tight-lipped) but I am sure we will realize a substantial profit after the 10% return. I am keeping Darren in the loop. If you have any ideas about my health issues, I'd appreciate hearing them Paul EFTA00626815
