From: To: Jeffrey Epstein Subject: update for JE Date: Mon, 01 Apr 2013 09:59:38 +0000 play Kids/Tech was just interviewed by thc and am writing something on that now. Will get back to working on the conference soon.... still unpacking from moving a week ago. Moving, Passover, and FIRST judging should not happen in the same week. EVER. Started working on the conference (right after TED, then had to put things on hold to move, etc) and here's what I have so far: - Boris prefers NYC b/c he wants travel to be easy and straightforward - Danny Hillis prefers Santa Fe, cause it's more wonderful. - Sadly, I'm the only one who thinks St. Thomas rocks! It's just further than most want to travel. In September, UN General Assembly and CGI both happen. That pretty much ties up NYC. We could meet just after those, but it may be hard to keep the folks we want in town. Spoke to a few folks about doing it before Sept, and most are booked. So — Oct/Nov? Just need a cool venue (in NYC?). Rough structure at this point is to work with a handful of folks (like Boris, Danny, Dave Gallo, possibly Regina Dugan, Mary Lou Jepsen, Frank Heidt, Joi Ito, Xeni Jardin, and maybe Tom Standage, Dan Ariely, and/or a few others), poll them as to the most fascinating people they know, and then invite those folks to speak and/or attend after vetting them. I'm excited about this! So thank you for asking me to put this together! Even when I'm not directly working on it, I'm thinking about it. Do you have a preference as to 1.5 days? 2 days + an opening dinner? Is there someone in your office I should be working with? In the next few weeks, I'll be speaking with a producer and will have a better sense of budget, etc. Oh - as for interesting people -- I think I've mentioned Frank Heidt and Mary Lou Jepsen to you. Frank is a great cyber-security guy and just a wild, crazy, awesome guy. Mary Lou is now at Google. Doing fascinating work with computers reading thoughts. VERY dangerous to introduce you to Mary Lou, so maybe I'll wait on that.... I'm going on a Someone I met through FIRST, then mentored for a few years at MSFT is now working there. Did you enjoy the tour you did? xoxox EFTA00628269 I LOVE FIRST. It's really amazing to see what these HS kids, who have been in earlier programs, like Lego League, can do with software, hardware, engineering... mind-blowing. EFTA00628270
