The company (A-Lab) starts small (5 people) and never grows large (10 people max). Who uses our software? A growing number of individual users and organizations world-wide will want to generate their own narrative streams, here called filaments. Such filaments will be narratives, journals or "documentary histories" (beads on a string, growing at one end) consisting of data units of all sorts: text, messages, images, sound, video, 3D scans. I tell the story of my life by generating a filament: I download the filament-builder and feed it (in realtime, as it happens) each element of my life story. Filament elements marked "public" are visible to the world at large. IBM tells its story, Fox News, the WSJ, the NYSE, the local school and school system and take-out pizza place tell theirs. All filaments in the Cybersphere, merged in realtime, are the "worldstream." Who watches these streams? As well as (or instead of) browsing the Web, (a) I watch a blend of my favorite filaments as they develop in realtime or (b) I watch a subset of the worldstream focused on topics of interest. For example, I watch (a) my friends' filaments, favorite news filaments and local government filaments, blended together, or (b) I watch every posting in the world that deals with de Kooning's paintings, new US or Israeli software patents or Eclectus parrots. To watch filaments, I download the filament-tuner and spec my stream— which can be re-mixed at any point. Our new company (A-Lab) designs, develops and releases a prototype Filament-builder and Filament-tuner. The builder and tuner can be downloaded and used on any standard intemet platform. In the several months following first public release, a small but steadily-growing group of users downloads our software. A-Lab becomes an obvious acquisition target.
