Subject: Fwd: Withdrawal of H1B for SLK
Date: Wed, 21 Jan 2015 22:12:28 +0000
The school has only issued the form I needed to book my appointment at the embassy today and it has to get here
by fedex, so they gave me an extra week and put on the form that I have to be in the US by the 2nd. (I can get an
appointment at the embassy early next week). If I don't make it in time parsons will defer me to fall semester.
Arda sent me below yesterday which has made me a little scared (paragraph 3)
(its not exactly the truth, he didn't mention the HI B would stand against me, but he did say I need to mention
that I want to go back to school and gain an education before returning to South Africa)

M, it takes at least 3-4 months to receive a withdrawal letter. sometimes more, sometimes less.
regardless of the withdrawal, because you have left the country, your application for an extension of status in the
H-lb classification was "abandoned". therefore, you have NO worries at the consulate level as far as the H-lb
extension application is concerned.
however, as we discussed, they may ask why you want to go back to school and you have to prove that you will
leave the US at the completion of your studies. the fact that you spent three years in the H-lb status works
against you. but, you can still make a very compelling argument that you got your professional training and now
you need some further academic training before you return back home.
usually, in situations like yours, the visa application is not a problem.

Do we have confirmation that the withdrawal letter was received?
and
Parsons has reviewed all my info and will be sending me my I-20 today. Once received I will make an
appointment at the embassy to get my Fl. I just want to make sure that as the withdrawal letter was received
after the 9th January, the date they had given us until, it won't affect me negatively as I go through the new
process. I had left the country before the 9th.
Thank you and regards,
