It would definitely be a quick, permanent solution. Another option is to raise the height of the berm across the
street.

do we want a wall instead of a windbreak for the basket?

No problem- we're pulling everything together to ship and all looks good. We sending some additional items
Chris asked for as well.
The walk last week went o.k.- but I was a little dismayed at the amount of maintenance that needs to be done
(spraying, weeding, removal of dead plants like the sea grape that were transplanted, etc.). Chris stated that
he's ordered a new sprayer, so that should help. But it appears to me that he's short on manpower. When the
guys are planting, no one is available to continue on with routine maintenance, and it brings down the overall
look and feel of the site. Perhaps you could consider bringing in a few guys part time occasionally to keep
augment the crews while the installations going on, provided that Chris and Peter can adequately manage
them.
As for our material, I'm happy with what I saw except for the grasses and the Areca palms. I counted a little
over 100 grasses that don't appear to be coming back, and the Areca palms are already getting windburn. A
big push to get the "basket" windbreak in and the bowl planted needs to happen as quickly as possible.
I'd also recommend mulching the planted beds and treating with a pre-emergent herbicide like Snapshot to
suppress the weed growth, and help the plants retain moisture.
I would recommend seeding the cleared areas as quickly as possible since we're getting rain. I would suggest
ordering fresh seed (hulled Bermuda), as I couldn't find a date stamp on the seed bags in storage. If someone
has records as to when it was purchased they need to let Chris know. Seed doesn't generally remain viable for
long down here in the heat. Also, I didn't see any paper pulp that's used in the hydro seed slurry, so I'd check
on that as well. You have plenty of fertilizer that's the right N-P-K formulation for seeding, but still need

something better for blooming for boosting color on your blooming plants. I'll send Chris a few bags from
our store, but perhaps he can order in a pallet in bulk for future use.
Other than that, I didn't get the opportunity to inspect the irrigation system again, so that still remains a big
concern to me, especially considering the amount of money you're investing in plants.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Kenneth Holmes
