Offender_Notice_-_20160928.pdf
We are sending you this notice to give you information regarding a particular revision to the upcoming changes in Florida registration
laws effective October 1, 2016. Please refer to the attached UPDATED notice of the registration changes including a revision to the
'Internet Identifiers' definition. Please see the highlighted portion of the attachment.
UPDATE (September 27. 2016): Under federal injunction, until further notice FDLE will be operating under the current (2014) definition
of Internet identifiers" as it relates to sexual offender/predator registration.
Current (2014) definition - "Internet identifier" means all electronic mail, chat, instant messenger, social networking, application
software, or similar names used for Internet communication, but does not include a date of birth, social security number, or personal
identification number (PIN). Voluntary disclosure by a sexual predator of his or her date of birth, social security number, or PIN as an
Internet identifier waives the disclosure exemption in this paragraph for such personal information.
Please note: the injunction does not otherwise alter any of the current registration requirements, the registration law changes effective
October 1, 2016, or your requirement to register. Sexual offenders/predators under the custody or control, or under the supervision of the
Department of Corrections (DOC) or the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) must continue to report their "Internet identifiers" directly
to DOC/DJJ. The injunction makes no alteration to the other 2016 changes to registration laws which will be implemented October 1,
2016, from HB 1333 and HB 545.
