Dear Sir or Madam,
I am currently completing a Juris Doctor at University of New South Wales fulltime, after having obtained a Bachelor in
International Commerce Law. I aspire to be accepted for the Summer Clerkship at your law firm and be ready to pursue as
a graduate student after November 2013 and be employed in the future.
I apply to Baker & McKenzie's Summer Clerkship because I have aspired to work for it since my first year of law at the
University of Paris 1 Sorbonne. Your law firm is a leading and one of the largest firms in the world, regularly recognized by
external publications for its excellence and winning the best awards. I have already worked for Clifford Chance, one of the
top firms in Europe and I did enjoyed the benefits of working for a big firm. According to statistics, Chambers Global has
ranked Baker & McKenzie's Dispute Resolution practice in more countries and listed more of our lawyers than any other
global top 20 law firm. Interested in learning more in the fields of dispute resolution, arbitration and mediation, I will be
honoured to be part of the world best Dispute resolution and Litigation group and to work together with the Australia's
leading litigation lawyers.
Concerning my legal experience, I have a total of nine months of experience in law firms in France and Russia. My last six
months internship at Clifford Chance was the most interesting and practical one. It gave me an insight into the day-to-day
life of a big law firm (400 people work for Clifford Chance in Paris) and I have acquired practical skills mostly in commercial
and international law and was sometimes involved in dispute resolution. I learnt how to draft legal documents such as
contracts, minutes, conclusions, shareholders' agreements and memorandums of understanding. I found the area of
Commercial law fascinating but would like to deepen my knowledge in litigation, particularly in mediation and arbitration as
well as the other practice areas of your firm.
While going through the brochure about Summer Clerkship at your firm, I was glad to learn that your Summer Clerks get
involved in real work right from the start. This is exactly what I am looking for. I will be honored to be exposed to
Australian and international clients through client meetings which did not happen at my previous internship. Baker &
McKenzie offers to its clerks the guidance by a Supervising Partner and an Associate 'Buddy' which personally I consider
very useful given my previous experience at Clifford Chance.
As for my personality which is a crucial aspect of any successful lawyer, I am a hardworking, outgoing and positive person
and I believe I have the passion and the drive to contribute effectively to the profit and continued success of your law firm.
In my past, I have represented Russia in the 2006 Olympic Games in Italy as a snowboarder. Sports taught me discipline,
patience and determination.
For a 22 year old woman, I have travelled a lot around the world for sports, studied in foreign universities and completed
legal internships which broadened my international and cultural horizons.

I chose law as my future career because as a High school student I was always keen on debating, public speaking and
politics. I believe that being an attorney reflects my passion. Additionally, as a past professional athlete I consider that
defending my client, arguing in court is a sort of competition, a complex challenge for a mind and I do like challenges. This
competition of ideas and the search for compelling arguments requires skill and practice which I hope to expand during my
Summer Clerkship at your law firm.
I would truly appreciate the opportunity to discuss the Summer clerkship opportunity further during an interview with you.
