Seeing Forever E-newsletter Letter from the Executive Director Lucretia Murphy, J.D., Ph.D. Every day at the See Forever Foundation and Maya Angelou Schools, we strive to "Show up and Show Out" in the lives of our students! This year has seen accomplishments that will secure our ability to affect positive change for years to come. The power of change is evident in our work and the lives of our students, for example: • We've been working with the city to secure a long-term lease of the building that houses the Maya Angelou Public Charter School Evans Campus. The District of Columbia Council unanimously supported our renovation of the facility, and we are planning to break ground at the campus in the fall of 2012. Learn more here. :;Lucretia Murphy, J.D., Ph.D. • As a part of the recent roundtable hearing on the disposition of the Evans building, students, parents, and staff spoke passionately about the desire for a renovated building. What moved the D.C. Council Chair and other city staff? The rallying cry from our students and their families that the Maya Angelou schools were helping their children to transform their lives. Read the testimonials. • We have launched a capital campaign The Campaign for our Future as we embark on the $23 million renovation that will transform our Evans Campus into the Maya Angelou Learning Center. This state-of-the-art facility in Ward 7 of the city will house our middle and high school programs, as well as our newly enhanced Maya Angelou Young Adult Learning Center. Read about our capital campaign and the renovation. Support us! I am so proud to see our mission materializing each day.
