Antonin Dvorak's ninth and final symphony, on the other hand, was written during the Czech composer's extremely productive stay in New York, and allowed conductor and orchestra to deploy a broad spectrum of expression: "Dudamel succeeds in creating a weightlessly floating beginning and builds with total mastery to the first climax. And it is hard to imagine the Largo, shimmering with the splendour of the finest piano, more noble, or chamber music-like" (Der Tagesspiegel).
