The basic idea is that consciousness is not the experience of the here and now, but only generated with hindsight, and its primary role is to keep track of what parts of our behavior contributed to the outcome, so we can specifically adjust those parts. Other than that, I'm going to give a tutorial on motivation in AI systems at the AAAI conference, will go to the Ann Arbor Al workshop on architectures for human-like AI, teach a seminar on AI again (last week we had Danny Hillis as special guest), build an agent that navigates a virtual world with a couple of masters students, and make extensions to my cognitive architecture MicroPsi. Btw, you mentioned a TV show/episode where I could/should talk about AGI? How are you doing? I imagine that the destruction of the US virgin islands is demanding your attention?
