He's a partner at a firm called Keker and Van Nest in San Francisco (www.kvn.com), and he's known in litigation circles as among the most aggressive and best litigators in the country; he has won a bunch of large, difficult and very high-profile cases. Jon was the president of the California Bar Association for a while, a very prestigious position held only by the most respected lawyers. The only real question about whether he'd be a good choice for you is based on his location in SF and not in NY. But he (like most successful litigators) handles cases all over the country, so geography is not necessarily a problem. I told Jon that you would call him to discuss some of the details of your situation, so that you can get some initial advice and be in a position to compare him to other possible lawyers I'm lining up for you.
