He requires peace and quiet so he can think. This is our primary occupation. Our collective work is to take care of him and complete his requests with excellence. The manager's job is to ensure it. Things here are "a mess." Does not care about systems or procedures. Perceives lying. The business is matriarchal and requires a strong lead. Does not believe I can fill that role. In the interim I will assume Karen's role as her copy until a suitable replacement is found. Patrick and I will assume residence in the staff cottage as caretakers of the island until a more suitable candidate is found. Perhaps 2-3 months. Guest premier butler from Paris will take residence in Sam's Place while principal on island. Integral spending First priority Attention to limitations and fill gaps. Make sure things are square, done properly (ex. Sylvester - reading) Fix it. No need for details. Be direct. Tell the truth. Accept consequences of failed expectations. I have successfully navigated with multiple recognitions the senior role of the church for 18 years. No person has seen the wrath of matriarchal territory than that of the women of the church, esp. when a black church receives their first white, first female, youngest-ever pastor. The women greeted me with vehement disdain and resistance when I arrived and grieved when I left. Together we contracted and remodeled their 100 year old sanctuary. I was there three years and received awards from the denomination and the university for our ground breaking work in race relations in our community. Respect gender and cultural dynamics. Don't take it personally. Abide. Patient and careful persistence is key. Meet with project managers daily. Keep notes. Supply principal w/ a concise and brief abstract of work accomplished and work planned at week end. Empower, resource, and hold accountable division leads. (ex. Sheridon) Although not presently considered, perform to optimal standards. The crew knows and respects me and already perceives me as an extension of Karen. When the suitable candidate arrives, support to ensure a successful transition. In the interim Valson (sp?) will be present for food and housekeeping/hospitality needs. Provide support to Valson if/as needed and otherwise fill gaps and continue the requests of the principal regarding projects and operations of the island, ensuring quiet time when principal on island.
