FUEL TANK IGNITION MITIGATION MEANS
For Boeing 737 NG Series - Supplemental Type Certificate No. ST02980NY
For Boeing 737 CL Series - Supplemental Type Certificate No. ST03589NY
FUEL TANK SAFETY
AerSafe"". a fuel tank ignition mitigation means developed by AerSale". is one of the few Federal Aviation
Administration (FM) approved options currently available that complies with the Fuel Tank Flammability
Reduction (FTFR) rule. The FTFR rule requires fuel tank ignition sources and flammability exposure to be
reduced in fuel tanks that are most at risk.
With the FAA deadline fast approaching. Boeing 737 operators have two options: a flammability reduction
means such as nitrogen inerting or an ignition mitigation means such as AerSafe. All affected passenger
aircraft flying within or into the United States and operating under FAR Part 121 must be manufactured
to meet the FTFR rule or be retrofitted by December 26. 2017 to avoid being grounded.

r,
The AerSafe system limits the amount of available oxygen that can
ignite fuel vapors and prevents sparks from initiating an explosion.
It has been tested and developed to exact tolerances to fill the
cavity of the Boeing 737 NG and CL series center fuel tank. AerSafe
comes as a complete prefabricated kit, and after initial installation,
the system is virtually maintenance-free. AerSafe provides an
economical solution with no mechanical parts that can fail, time-
change components to replace, or flight test requirements after
installation. AerSafe also complies with the Notice of Prnnnsed
Rulemaking (NPRM) No. FM-2016-6139.

overnight after the aircraft center tank is de-fueled. AerSafe does
not require maintenance between heavy check visits or special
tooling to remove and install the parts. Aircraft can be modified or
de-modified without any structural changes.
