Edward Rod-Larsen Dear Ms. Kim, I am writing to you to apply for a work experience position within fine art at Christies, in London. I was informed of this possibility by Mr. Epstein. I am seventeen years old (turning 18 this summer). I am currently studying my A levels at Collingham College, taking Art, History of Art and Religious Studies. I have previously studied at the Stowe School in Buckingham and the Browning School in New York City. I have a very strong interest in art, both as an artist and an art historian. I intend to pursue History of Art at university and gain a Bachelor degree at Courtauld University or New York University. My goal in the future is to have a career within the art world as a curator, art dealer or gallerist. I demonstrated good academic ability in my Religious Studies and English GCSE exam achieving an A grade in both. In addition I was a member of the debating society at Stowe, leading my House in the house debating competition. Two of my art works were recently exhibited at the Royal College Of Art six form college competition. I am extremely interested in both classic and contemporary art and I follow the contemporary art world closely. Humanities are my speciality and I feel I really enjoy and excel at it. However, I also find the business side of the Art world extremely interesting. I have a very comprehensive knowledge of IT and feel my communication and social skills are excellent. I have cultural and social experience from living in different countries as I am a Norwegian citizen and have moved around a lot because of my mother's diplomatic postings in Israel, New York, Oslo and she is currently the Norwegian Ambassador in London. I speak fluent English and Norwegian. I hope to learn the basic ropes of working in a gallery and I feel Christies would be the perfect place for me to develop and learn.
